Poker After Dark: Jazz Flute

Poker is a game of intense focus — playing at a high level requires mental clarity, a deft ability to manage risk, and a true gift for governing one's emotions. TUAWKI's Poker After Dark was designed to accompany and enhance this experience, a nostalgically minded jazz flute record built to score the games that make you sweat without getting in the way of the task at hand. Full of fluttering melodies and peaceful rhythms — with a dramatic film noir-indebted run or two — this is the perfect soundtrack for clinking rocks glasses and laughing with a few card sharks, but not so demanding as to add to the stress of a long night with money on the line. The musicians themselves are longtime poker players, so they know all too well what works and what doesn't — how to write a piece that plays well when you really need to lock in. Crafted quickly with a "first thought, best thought" approach, it's a record that mirrors the energy of a high-stakes game: carefully considered, yet improvisatory. Never let them know your next move.
